Just as the stories get issued on a magazine every month, in the same way, artist Miwon Park would want her new-monthly works to be the magazine of how she sees the world. There are lots of stories around us; joy, anger, sadness, love, hatred, desire, happiness, hop and many others, they exist within. What are the ways to describe and express who you are at this very moment, or every moments of your life? Then what are the ways to delicately see others through? Miwon hopes this is where you and she can communicate. She hopes to visit you again with a new story next month. |

The first story 'Papers and Approach', with the help of papers, Miwon would like to unravel is ‘approach’. Paper is something she has wished to handle. Being the oldest art material, the paper, is strong with the numbers, user friendly, and easily approachable. |
| 종이를 가지고 시작한 작가 미원의 첫 이야기는 ‘종이와 접근’이다. 종이는 그녀가 다루고 싶었던 재료이다. 가장 오래된 재료 중 하나이며 약하고 가볍지만 여러 장이 모이면 그 힘이 배가 되며 누구에게나 친근하고 접근이 용이한 그런 재료이다. |

Miwon’s talk: You must have experienced one of the moments where words are not enough. It seems I was lost in series of questions of my own throughout the production, and I have spent endless time searching for those answers to ease feelings. The colour of the box represents innocence of the believers and unconditional naiveness that often arises. The small, dense houses may communicate to another yet they expose their lack of individualities. The quiet, fading light shows devotion that may be easily tempted by lies. With the help of light and its reflection of the mirror, I hoped to show that all icons of religions have rooted from the same foundations. |
너무 할 말이 많아서 말로는 다 표현할 수 없는 순간을 당신도 경험했을 것이다. 이 작품을 구상하고 스케치 완성 후 작업을 하는 내내 나 스스로 너무 많은 말을 던진 것 같다. 그 말들에 대답을 구하느라 수없이 희비가 교차했다. 상자의 하얀색은 믿는 자의 순수함과 때때로 생겨나는 맹목적 순진함을 나타낸다. 상자 속의 작고 조밀한 집들은 소통하지만, 서로의 무개성을 알리고 있으며 꺼질 듯 조용한 빛은 거짓 앞에서 쉽게 현혹될 수 있는 신심을 말한다. 그리고 그 빛이 거울의 반사를 통해 보이는 상징물은 결국 모두 하나의 뿌리라는 것을 알리고 싶다. |

Miwon’s talk: Miwon’s talk: The only thing that forever stays, I think, is god and time. Time stands by us quietly all the time. It will be always here, and it will be still here even after we’re gone. As like we pass through long tunnels, we are in a narrow path of life. However, the world is much wider and fills our time with a series of inevitable incidents, not coincidences. What could be the weight of our lives if it was time, not us, to make the call? |
영원히 존재하는 것은 신과 시간 말고는 없을지도 모른다. 그 시간은 항상 우리 곁에 존재하고 말없이 함께한다. 우리가 처음 이곳에 왔을 때도 그리고 언젠가 사라질 때도 같이 할 것이다. 시간의 긴 터널을 지나는 것처럼 우리는 삶이라는 좁은 통로 안에 있지만 이 세상은 그것보다는 더 넓으며 우연이 아닌 필연의 사건들 연속으로 우리의 시간을 채워간다. 시간의 시점에서 우리를 바라본다면 우리가 가진 삶의 무게는 어떠할까? |
